This was the first atomic bomb test that occurred before hiroshima. Before the Manhattan project even existed, an italian by the name of Enrico Fermi and his team at the University of chicago. After a successful chain reaction named Chicago pile-1, The U.S. realised the potential of nuclear energy, and started the Manhattan project. Fermi worked with his team under Robert Oppenheimer to help create the bomb. They invented the Atom bomb in a government facility codenamed Site Y. July of 1945, their prototype was tested on a hundred foot tower in Los alamos, Nevada. The Trinity bomb had a force of 21 kilotons. For a starting point, one kiloton has the force of 1000 metric tons of TNT. That’s 21000 tons for this one bomb. TNT. After doing some complicated math, that’s enough energy produced by about 85 power plants.
